Eliot Tokar is a New York City based practitioner of traditional Asian medicine (Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese). Mr. Tokar is one of the only North Americans to have received extensive clinical and textual training in Tibetan medicine. He studied Tibetan medicine from 1983-86 as a student of Dr. Yeshi Donden. Since 1986, Mr. Tokar has been a student of Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche, and additionally from 1990 of Dr. Shakya Dorje. Mr. Tokar also has training in Chinese and Japanese traditional medicine.

Mr. Tokar began his clinical practice in 1990. He investigates his patients condition by first taking an extensive history and then utilizing the Tibetan system of urinalysis, pulse analysis, as well as observation of the tongue, eyes and sensitivity of pressure points. He uses a full range of traditional treatment modalities, beginning with educating his patient's regarding the nature of their condition, and then employing counseling, behavior/lifestyle modification, dietary therapy, herbal remedies, acupressure massage, acupuncture, cupping and/or moxabustion.
